Edward Kiernan was a volunteer at HTRBA for over 30 years. He loved baseball so much that after serving as coach, he stayed on to serve as an umpire and groundskeeper at Van Horn Park.
Ed was born in Jersey City, but was a longtime Hamilton resident, graduating from the Trenton Catholic Boys High School. After graduating he served in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war, he came home to Hamilton and spent that time with his wife Lillian raising their three daughters, Linda, Karen, and Virginia.
When Ed passed away on December 9, 2017, he willed his burial flag to HTRBA. His family's wish was to have the flag flying over the fields.
HTRBA was lucky to have such a dedicated volunteer like Ed and we are honored to have his flag flying over centerfield on game days in between A and B Field.
Thank you Ed!
